Food safety management certificate ISO22000 granted for Powerflute
24.01.2007
Powerflute Ltd. was awarded the food safety management certificate January 16, 2007. Harry Lindström, the managing director of Inspecta Sertifiointi Oy, presented the certificate to Juha Koukka, the managing director of Powerflute Ltd. in a special event January 23.
The food safety management system is a part of the management system of Powerflute Ltd. The mill already has the quality and environmental system certificates i.e. ISO9001 and ISO14001 - it was one of the first companies in Finland to get the certificate for the quality system in the beginning of 1990’s. The product is suitable as packaging material for both dry and non-fatty foods as well as moist and fatty foods; it does not cause deterioration in the taint characteristics of food. However, food safety has lately become more and more important for customers. This certificate guarantees that Powerflute Ltd. is a reliable supplier and does its share in packaging safety. In practise the system means better housekeeping at the mill as well as some new instructions and routines for the operators and maintenance workers. Some additional quality measurements were implemented in order to carefully follow the purity consistency in the process.
There are several standards for food safety. Powerflute Ltd. follows the newest standard called ISO 22000.
