Powerflute Oyj Continues Its Development Programme with Investment in a New Headbox and Short Circulation System at its Savon Sellu Mill

Powerflute Oyj (the "Company" or “Powerflute”), which manufactures high quality nordic semi-chemical fluting, announces today that it has signed an agreement with Vaahto Pulp & Paper Machinery to supply and install a new headbox and upgrade the short circulation system at its Savon Sellu mill. The Company will also continue the mill automation upgrade programme with Honeywell in line with the Life Cycle Management Agreement, which we entered 28th July 2006.

This investment package, especially the dilution controlled headbox, will bring substantial improvements in moisture and basis weight profile management, as well as increasing productivity. Improved performance at the paper machine will lead to better consistency and performance at our customers’ corrugators.

The investment programme will commence in May 2008, during the annual 7 day close-down. The total cost of the project is expected to be approximately 5 million euro.

Commenting on the announcement Don Coates, CEO of Powerflute Oyj, said: “This agreement is an important step for Powerflute and will help us to retain our position as a quality leader in the fluting business.”
