03.09.2005
Powerflute OY Savon Sellu mill has signed an agreement with Metso Paper for a rebuild of its press section and dryer sheet transfer to improve operational stability of its machine in Kuopio. At the same time they will modify the wet end drainage layout to incorporate a completely new wire table. The company states that it expects the latter to improve the profile of the web going into the press section and thus lead to even more reliable performance of its production. This will lead to improved reality and consistency at the corrugators.
The Savon Sellu mill and its new owners of Powerflute OY have embarked on a gradual performance improvement investment program to ensure that it remains a leading quality supplier to the corrugated box manufacturing industry. So far they have substantially in a number of areas within the mill to improve the pulp quality going to the paper machine as well as numerous other minor investments aimed at product reliability and consistency.
A spokesman for the Company stated that while they were pleased that the owners were continuing to show confidence in the operations by approving these investments it was a concern that the recent steeply escalating costs of energy was eroding their profit margins. It is expected that the Company will seek to recover part or all of these increases as well as other general cost increases by announcing a paper price increase for their semi chemical fluting during October
