PULP EXPERT TO POWERFLUTE LTD. SAVON SELLU

Powerflute Ltd. announced that it had installed the latest Kajaani Pulp Expert automated pulp laboratory at the Savon Sellu mill in Kuopio, Finland.
At the cost of over 500 000 Euro, the equipment supplied by Metso Automation allows fast and reliable pulp measurements from multiple sources in the plant which provides a complete process analysis of pulp quality and refining results.
This will allow a much narrower quality window to be manufactured and provide improved consistency.
The equipment is tried and proven in many installations globally in the pulp and paper industry but the Savon Sellu operation is the only semi-chemical fluting producer to have this innovative equipment installed.
The Mill Manager, Mr. Juha Koukka states that this equipment will allow Powerflute to remain the best quality producer of semi-chemical fluting in the world and added that the operating crews were delighted by the results being achieved. They can now get immediate feedback from the pulp quality and adjust the process to suit where before they had to wait for the laboratory results and only a few tests were managed each day. Now up to 5 000 accurate test results can be produced daily. We expect our customers to see improved runnability in their corrugators as an outcome of this installation.
The Savon Sellu mill belonging to Powerflute Ltd. is situated in Kuopio, eastern Finland and produces 250 000 tons of semi-chemical fluting using birch fibre.
